????? This book had me hooked from the start. The writing is evocative and cinematic, which makes sense when you learn that the author is an award-winning writer for film and television. You’re thrown into the lives of the three main protagonists, and wonder how they can possibly connect but when they do, it changes everything for them forever. In addition to the humans, Bandit the dog is also a wonderful character. The puppy-like joy with which he views the world, and his favorite past-time (quizzes) was endearing. The story masterfully combined various threads and powered along through to an explosive finale. This is sure to be a classic once more people hear of it.
????? Jo Ho seems to have the innate ability to make every word breathe to life on the page. You really feel a part of their story and experience their ups and downs. I loved Chase, Sully and Bandit and being taken on their personal journey to “wellness” was an enjoyable experience. It is a book for all ages from young adult to mature and youthful grandmothers like me (and a “clean” one at that – no cussing, sex play or gore).
????? I’m not into runaway kids, but this is not what this book is about. Reading the blurb, I was thinking-oh, just another knock off of Koontz’s Watchers. It was not. I truly enjoyed this book. I’m not one who leaves reviews!
