Dogtown is a shelter for stray dogs, misbehaving dogs, and discarded robot dogs whose owners have outgrown them. Chance, a real dog, has been there since her owners accidentally left her with irresponsible dog-sitters who skipped town. Metal Head, a robot dog, longs to return to a real home. Nearby, Mouse—a resourceful mouse with free run of the shelter—pilfers kibble and uses clever feats to protect the dogs he loves.
When Chance and Metal Head set out to find their forever homes, their adventure leads them into danger and unexpected acts of kindness. Along the way, they encounter cheese sandwiches, a charging station, and challenges that test their determination. Together, the unlikely companions must navigate life beyond the shelter while holding on to the hope that they will find somewhere—and someone—to call home.
