What it’s about

David, the newest member of the Animorphs, seems like an important addition to the fight against the Yeerks—but he is not what he appears to be. Driven by a desire to control the other Animorphs and Ax, David begins pulling the group apart just as they face their most important battle yet. Rachel and the others know that time is running out. If they can win this fight, they may be able to slow the Yeerk invasion, but David creates a dangerous complication they cannot ignore.

The group must determine what to do with an ally whose actions threaten their unity and whose presence may be more than a little troublesome. As the battle approaches, the Animorphs face a critical question: can they stop the invasion while dealing with a new member who may be deadly?

Evidence Confidence

Why this matters →
DevelopingAudiobook-specific confidence
  • The book itself is well identified and supported across independent sources.
  • We still have limited information tied to this exact recording or edition.
  • We have recording-specific performance commentary or analyzed audio for this audiobook.

We have a useful picture of the audiobook, though some listening and edition-specific details are still becoming clearer.

Evidence Snapshot i

These cards measure different things in the same evidence pool, so they are not meant to add together. Retained Evidence counts unique saved records; discussions and networks count independent groups; narration and edition cards count only records qualified for those specific jobs.

What this means

Unique evidence records that remain after filtering and deduplication. The larger evidence-signal total shown below can be higher because one retained record may support several separate facts or observations.

What this means

Performance evidence that can actually describe how this narrator sounds or performs this recording. Identity records, narrator biographies, sample links, and awards are useful context but do not count here on their own.

3Edition Sources
Recording-specific identity and edition checks
Supporting sources 3
What this means

Sources tied to the audiobook recording itself, such as verified product or catalog records that help resolve narrator, runtime, format, release information, or stable recording identifiers.

A larger evidence pool gives us more to work with, but volume alone does not make a conclusion stronger. Relevance and independence still matter.

Narrator Experience

How Emily Ellet performs this particular recording.

How we build this section
Performance descriptions use evidence tied to this recording. Repeated independent observations carry more weight than isolated comments. Narrator background and awards add context but do not determine how this performance is described. Measured sample signals describe only the analyzed excerpt and are never treated as quality scores.

Performance summary

In the verified sample, Emily Ellet is heard with measured pacing and less immediately clear enunciation. These excerpt-level observations are combined with recording-specific listener evidence, so the profile stays cautious about qualities the short sample cannot demonstrate across the full audiobook.

Performance at a glance

What the qualified evidence says about this narration

Audio observations reflect a short verified sample and are combined with recording-specific performance evidence.

Narration PaceMeasuredThe delivery maintains a deliberate, cautious tempo throughout the passage, with no sudden speed-ups.Developing evidence
ClarityLess immediately clearThe recording-specific commentary raises some concern about diction or intelligibility, so listeners who are sensitive to clarity may want to sample it first.Developing evidence

What this means for your listen

Early performance evidence points this way: the steady or measured pace should feel easy to settle into; listeners who prefer brisk delivery may find it more deliberate. Clear or careful diction should make dialogue, names, and unfamiliar terms easier to follow over a longer listen.

Why we describe the performance this way

We use evidence tied specifically to this recording. Repeated observations across independent sources carry more weight than isolated comments. Narrator background and career recognition can add useful context, but they do not determine how this performance is described.

Is This Right for You?

Story and reader-fit guidance remains useful here. Recording-specific claims are limited to evidence matched to this exact edition.

You’ll probably enjoy this if…

  • You are already following Animorphs or the David Trilogy.
  • You enjoy science-fiction adventures where trust within a team is central.
  • You want a more serious or darker turn in a children’s adventure series.

It might not be the best fit if…

  • You want a self-contained introduction to the Animorphs universe.
  • You prefer light, low-stakes children’s adventure.
  • You need detailed guidance about content, pacing, or production before listening.
  • The exact edition and narrator are verified, but an official sample has not yet been verified for this recording.

Our Take

The Solution appears to be a tense, consequential entry in the Animorphs saga, with the team’s internal trust placed under as much pressure as the external fight. It should appeal most to established series readers who want the David storyline to carry serious stakes. Listener reaction points positively toward Emily Ellet’s narration, including character differentiation, but that performance picture remains early rather than definitive.

FAQ

Is prior Animorphs knowledge helpful?

Yes. This is Animorphs #22 and the third book in the David Trilogy, so familiarity with the series should make the group’s situation and relationships easier to follow.

Does the story have a darker tone than a typical children’s adventure?

Available listener commentary describes the book as revealing a notably dark side of the series. Treat that as an early tonal signal rather than a complete content guide.

What edition is profiled here?

This profile covers the audiobook edition published by Scholastic Audio on November 2, 2021, narrated by Emily Ellet. Its ASIN is B099YFB2QX.

Is there a sample before I commit?

A verified audio sample is listed through AudiobooksNow, which may be useful for checking whether the performance suits you.
